Men's Basketball Falls to Kean in OT

Dominic Scanlon's three-pointer sent the game into overtime
ITHACA, N.Y.The men’s basketball team (4-4) lost to Kean (8-1) Friday 74-73. Sophomore forward Jeff Bostic (Geneva/Geneva) scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down a career-best 15 rebounds–nine of which were offensive rebounds.
 
Junior guard Brian Joe (Southside/Elmira) and junior forward Dominic Scanlon (Oswego/Oswego) each scored 12 points. Joe grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Sean Burton (Notre Dame/Yorkville) led the team with five assists, while scoring eight points. Junior forward Sean Stahn (Ardsley/Scarsdale) shot 4-6 and had nine points.
 
The first half saw the lead change seven times. Kean held the advantage 10-17 at the 12:14 mark. The Bombers rallied back going on a 9-2 run and tied the score at 19 with 7:31 remaining. Ithaca had the advantage at the half 31-28. Joe led the Bombers in the first with nine points.
 
In the second both teams remained close as Keen tied the game 43-43 at the 13:22 mark. The Bombers found themselves down 66-61 with only 1:14 to go and were able to cut the lead to 66-63 with 0:07 remaining. Kean missed a free throw and Burton headed up court with the ball. He found Scanlon near the Ithaca Bench. Scanlon caught the pass, fired a turnaround three-pointer and made the basket with 0.04 sending the game into overtime at 66-66.
 
In the extra period the Bombers fell behind 70-66 before scoring seven straight points. After a Cougar lay-up, a Bomber foul with 0:01 remaining sent Kean to the free-throw line for two shots and the win.
 
The Bombers travel to Division I Cornell January 5, 2007, at 7 p.m.
